Developer Relations Activity Patterns

Developer Relations Activity Patterns

It's finally here! After all the writing, editing, illustrating, and waiting, Developer Relations Activity Patterns is out in the world 🤓

When I wrote my first post about the book, it was still an exciting project in progress. Now it is a real thing people can buy, read, dog-ear, highlight, and hopefully use to build healthier developer communities and stronger DevRel programs. That feels pretty great.

What I love most about this book is that it's practical. There is plenty of conversation in DevRel around what the role is supposed to be, but the truth is it looks different in every organization because every organization has different needs and priorities. This book breaks Developer Relations down into concrete activities so people can decide what makes sense for their situation. It's about patterns, strategy, execution, and measurement. I really do think it will help people whether they are just getting started in DevRel or trying to level up an established program.

And of course, I had a lot of fun illustrating the cover and chapter art. Projects like this do not come along every day, and I loved having the chance to bring some visual storytelling into a technical book. I hope, hope, HOPE I get more opportunities like this in the future!

I am also incredibly proud of the team behind it. It was an honor to work alongside Ted Neward, Scott McAllister, and Chris "Woody" Woodruff. And honestly, I am still a little blown away that Scott Hanselman and Mary Thengvall contributed the forewords 🤯

If you want to learn more, you can find the book at Apress and Amazon.
